Summary

This paper considers and discusses the effectiveness of Cyriax treatment for the management of tendinopathies, particularly lateral epicondylitis (LE), and makes the following recommendations and observations:

1.There appears to be no evidence of clinically important benefit of deep transverse friction massage (DTFM) for treating tendinopathies.

2.RCTs to study the effectiveness of DTFM and Mill's manipulation on LE are needed.

3.A similar manipulation technique following DTFM may be found for the management of other tendinopathies similar to that used in treatment of LE.
